Research of spatial-temporal dynamics of forest fires in Eastern Siberia
نویسندگان
چکیده
The spatial-temporal dynamics of forest fires for last five years in latitudinal range 40-74 degrees of the northern latitude are analyzed with using the data of the radiometer AVHRR/NOAA. It was shown that forest fires are observed from May till September, basically during three summer months with a maximum of the activity during the second half of summer. On a phase of a maximum of an 11-years cycle of solar activity the tendency of displacement of forest fires to the north is observed. This situation may be explained by latitudinal displacement of trajectories of the Atlantic cyclones on a phase of a maximum of solar activity.

Wildfires Dynamics in Siberian Larch Forests
Wildfire number and burned area temporal dynamics within all of Siberia and along a south-north transect in central Siberia (45 ̋–73 ̋ N) were studied based on NOAA/AVHRR (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/ Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer) and Terra/MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) data and field measurements for the period 1996–2015. In addition, fire ...
متن کاملSatellite analysis of the severe 1987 forest fires in northern China and southeastern Siberia
Meteorological conditions, extremely conducive to fire development and spread in the spring of 1987, resulted in forest fires burning over extremely large areas in the boreal forest zone in northeastern China and the southeastern region of Siberia. The great China fire, one of the largest and most destructive forest fires in recent history, occurred during this period in the Heilongjiang Provin...
متن کاملClimate change, forest fires and air quality in Portugal in the 21 century
There are regions of the world more vulnerable to climate change and some of those regions are also sensitive to forest fire occurrences. The way climate change interacts with the forests of the world and consequently with forest fire activity is a point of debate among the scientific community. Several features dominate the forest fires of a given region and these can be described in terms of ...
متن کاملMonthly burned area and forest fire carbon emission estimates for the Russian Federation from SPOT VGT
Russian boreal forests contain around 25% of all global terrestrial carbon, some of which is released to the atmosphere when the forests burn. Whilst it is well known that fire is widespread in the boreal environment, there is a lack of good quality quantitative data on the extent of fire activity in Russian forests and on its interannual variation. This study provides one of the first comprehe...
متن کاملUnderstorey fire frequency and the fate of burned forests in southern Amazonia.
Recent drought events underscore the vulnerability of Amazon forests to understorey fires. The long-term impact of fires on biodiversity and forest carbon stocks depends on the frequency of fire damages and deforestation rates of burned forests. Here, we characterized the spatial and temporal dynamics of understorey fires (1999-2010) and deforestation (2001-2010) in southern Amazonia using new ...
